Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Applying for YPFP
How do I apply for YPFP?
Fill out the YPFP Membership Application in its entirety and submit it through the site. YPFP leadership will review your application for membership to the organization through a triple-blind voting process. Incomplete submissions will not be accepted.
Who is eligible for YPFP?
Young professionals with demonstrated interest and experience in foreign policy are encouraged to apply. YPFP is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization whose 5,000 members cross national borders, employment sectors and political affiliations.
When should I pay dues?
You should pay dues once you receive confirmation that you have been accepted as a member of YPFP. Please do not pay dues when you first apply.
Do I have to apply to view the site?
No, if you'd like to access the basic features of the site, simply fill in your email address twice at the top of the application. A password will be automatically emailed to you. Please note that unless you apply, you will not be able to access many important features of the site.
Please note: Creating a username and password does NOT make you a YPFP member. Members must complete the full application for consideration.
Can I finish my application later?
Yes. Click "create new account (without applying)" to save your application and allow you to reenter it at later time. No information will be sent to the Membership Committee.
How do I get my password?
When you submit your application or save it, you will be emailed automatically with a password to use in the website.
After I submitted my application, can I change any of the information?

How do I know when my annual dues will expire?

Where does my money go?
Since 2004, YPFP has held limited fundraisers to support our programming, a new website, and the legal costs associated with our incorporation and registration as a non-profit. In order to continue to professionalize the organization and provide increased services to our members, additional sources of revenue to supplement our current fundraising efforts were required.
Instituting dues in January 2009 allowed us to produce higher quality events, increased opportunities for our members beyond our regular programming events, a new and improved website, and better membership benefits.
